Volata

Running coach + tracker · iPhone · public beta

A running coach and tracker in one — a plan that bends around your real life.

Tell Volata your race. It builds your training plan, then — as your runs and walks actually go — offers you a reshaped week and tells you why, in plain words. Nothing changes until you say yes.

Free during beta — no payment, no ads, and we don't sell your data.

Public beta on iPhone, via TestFlight — Android is on our roadmap. Not on iPhone? Tell us about your running and we'll let you know when Volata reaches your phone.

What Volata does

A coach that writes your plan and a tracker that records your runs — in one app, working from the same picture of your training.

A plan that offers to bend around your week

Pick your race — 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon — and Volata builds a full training plan around it. New to this? Choose a 5K as your first race and Volata offers you a beginner build-up instead of a racing plan: walk-run intervals that grow week by week, and no pace targets at all. Miss a week or come back tired and Volata offers you a reworked few weeks to protect your build, showing you exactly what it wants to change and why. Accept it, or carry on as you were.

Track every run and walk

Record your runs with GPS and watch them come together on the map — your route, your splits, your pace, all saved. On a treadmill, switch to Indoor and Volata times the run instead of tracking it: no GPS and no map, just the clock — and you can type the distance in afterwards if you want it. Run, walk, or mix the two; Volata records it either way.

A voice in your ear, not just numbers on a screen

Volata talks you through the run: "Start run" or "Go" the second you tap go, your splits called out as they land, and you hear how far off your target you are while you're still running. If today's session calls for 13:50/mi and you're running 13:30/mi, you hear about it mid-run. Pop your phone in your pocket and just run.

Train with your coach

Already have a coach? They can send you an invite link, and once you accept it they can write your plan and send it to you in the app. You see the whole plan first and choose whether to take it on. You can write to your coach from your Profile. Before you accept, the app shows you exactly what your coach will see — your plan and your runs. You decide whether your coach's assistant can read your plan, and you can change that or end coaching any time from Profile.

How it works

Three steps to a plan that fits you.

Tell us your goal

Your race and date — 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon — plus a little about how you run today.

Get your plan

Volata builds a full week-by-week plan around your goal, with the pacing, rest and long runs worked out for you. Beginner 5K build-ups use walk-run intervals with no pace targets.

It offers, you decide

Record your runs and Volata keeps up — suggesting changes to the weeks ahead when training isn't going to plan, and telling you why. Every suggestion is yours to take or leave.

Your plan is yours. Volata never changes it — it only ever suggests.

Who it's for

Whether you're chasing a time or lacing up for the first time, you're welcome here.

Goal racers

Training for a 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon and want a plan that holds up when life gets in the way.

A grey-haired man out on a run in the park

Returning runners

Getting back into it after a break and want to rebuild at a sensible pace, not from a generic plan.

Run-walkers

Mixing running and walking on purpose. Planned walk-run intervals are what a beginner 5K build-up is made of — that's where Volata writes them into your plan. And whatever you're training for, Volata records a run where you mix the two properly: a real way to train, not a fallback.

Walkers curious about running

Walking regularly and wondering about your first run? Pick a 5K, tell Volata it's your first, and you get a beginner build-up — walk-run intervals that stretch a little each week, and not a single pace target.

For coaches

See who needs you this week. Write the plan. Send it.

Coach your runners on Volata from the web. Send each runner an invite link; once they accept, you can write their plan in the coach console and send it to them. The console shows how each runner is doing against their plan, your roster, groups for runners who train together, and your plan library. An assistant can help you draft or change a plan. You review every plan and send it yourself, and your runner chooses whether to accept it.

Where the beta stands

Volata is in public beta on iPhone. We'd rather be straight with you about what's ready and what isn't.

What's here today

  • On iPhone now, via TestFlight — Android is on our roadmap.
  • Free during the beta — no payment and no ads.
  • Plans that offer to adapt, run & walk tracking, audio cues, custom workouts, and Apple Health import and write-back.
  • Training with a coach: accept their invite, get the plan they write, and write to them in the app. Coaches get a web console.

Not there yet

  • No Apple Watch app yet. You record from your iPhone. If your Watch already logs runs to Apple Health, Volata picks those up — but there's nothing to install on the Watch.
  • Strava and Garmin sync aren't available. Volata doesn't connect to either service.
  • No web dashboard for runners — Volata lives on your phone. (Coaches get a web console.)
  • No one-tap export in the app yet — email us and we'll send you a copy of your data.
  • No social feed, followers or leaderboards. Volata is your coach, not a network.
  • Android is on the roadmap — no release date yet.

Questions

Is it free?

Yes — Volata is free during the beta. No payment, no ads, and we don't sell your data.

How do I join the beta?

On your iPhone, open the Volata beta link on TestFlight. If you don't have Apple's TestFlight app yet, the page sends you to the App Store to get it (it's free). Then open the link again, tap View in TestFlight, and tap Accept and Install. In TestFlight the app is listed as “Volata Run Beta” — on your home screen it's just Volata. No questionnaire needed — but if you'd like to tell us about your running, it helps us make Volata better.

Is it iPhone only?

For now, yes. The beta runs on iPhone through TestFlight. Android is on our roadmap, but it isn't open to testers yet — leave your details and we'll let you know.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. You can record runs and walks straight from your iPhone. There's no Volata app for the Watch yet either — but if your Watch logs runs to Apple Health, Volata picks those up.

Does it work if I just walk?

Absolutely. Record walks, mix running and walking, or — if a 5K will be your first race — start with a beginner build-up made for a first run. Walkers and first-timers are welcome here.

Is it AI?

The plans Volata builds for you are worked out by rules, not by AI — a training engine that follows established coaching principles: how your pace is set, how gradually your mileage goes up, when you rest, take an easier week, or wind down before a race. If you're coached, your coach can use an AI assistant on Volata's web console to help draft or change a plan; your coach reviews it and sends it, and you choose whether to accept. On your phone there's nothing to chat with. Every suggestion Volata makes comes with a reason you can read, and none of it happens until you say yes.

Can I use Volata with my coach?

Yes. Your coach sends you an invite link; open it on your iPhone and accept. Your coach can then write your plan and send it to you, and you choose whether to take it on. You can write to your coach from Profile, decide whether their assistant can read your plan, and end coaching whenever you like. Coaches work from the coach console on the web.

What data do you collect?

Enough to build your plan, suggest changes to it, and record your runs — and, if you connect it, the workout history you choose to share from Apple Health. We don't sell your data. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
